Etho Maria began as Etho Lithos in 1992 — a Greek design house devoted to fine gemstones and the kind of high jewellery that earns its description. Founder Takis Etho spent twenty years building that reputation, producing distinguished work for some of the industry's most prestigious names before the strategic decision, in 2008, to launch under the signature Etho Maria. The name encodes the brand's values: originality, quality, eternal value.

The house works in 18k gold with some of the world's rarest stones — Paraiba tourmalines, Kashmir sapphires, untreated emeralds, fancy colour diamonds. What sets Etho Maria apart is not merely the materials but the attitude toward them: bold colour pairings, asymmetric silhouettes, unexpected contrasts that produce jewelry immediately recognisable as theirs. A piece requiring over a thousand hours of handwork is not unusual. Everything is made in-house by the team of 150 goldsmiths, setters, and cutters at their Athens headquarters.

The house has won multiple Couture Design Awards, including Best in Diamonds Above $40,000 in 2023. Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lopez, and Cate Blanchett have all chosen Etho Maria for major appearances.
