Founded in 1786 — the year before the U.S. Constitution was signed — Deakin & Francis has never left its home in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. The same building. The same machinery, in many cases. The same commitment to handcraft passed down through seven generations of the Deakin family, now led by brothers Henry and James, who are masters of gemology and trade alike.
For much of its history the house worked in quiet service to the world's great brands, producing pieces that bore other names. What Deakin & Francis brought was the skill: the sterling silver work, the vitreous enamelling, the signet ring engraving that earned them the right to supply Harrods and the finest counters in Europe. In 2026, the house marks 240 years — still in that same Regent Place workshop that James Watt once called home.
At Cayen, we carry their cufflinks and accessories because they represent something increasingly rare: British craft with a genuinely unbroken lineage. Each piece carries that history without announcing it.
